Our organization and its history.
Serving Perry County through our Linden and Lobelville branches, your local libraries are run by diligent staff, supported by volunteers, and overseen by a volunteer Board of Trustees.
The Perry County Public Library was created in 1947 by the County Judge and members of the Quarterly Court of Perry County. It was housed in the basement of the courthouse in Linden until 1986 when it moved into a new building at 104 College Avenue just behind the high school and near the middle and elementary schools.
The Lobelville Public Library was started in 1979 as a branch of the Perry County Public Library. Originally located in a room of the Lobelville City Hall, it was moved into a building that had been a dress shop. In 2010 a new Lobelville City Hall building was completed at 55 South Main Street with half the building dedicated to the library.
